About Me (through my purse)
You know that phrase or belief (or whatever) that the contents of a woman’s purse reveal something about her life? Here are the contents of my purse, in hopes this reveals everything about me you need to know.
First off, if someone were to ask me for the contents of my purse, I’d have to clarify by asking, “Which purse?” I have two - A recently purchased, bone-colored with brushed metal hardware Melie Bianco for Target serves as my weekday work bag and a three-year-old Kooba, raisin-colored with worn gold hardware serves as my smaller, lighter weekend bag.
Where I grew up in Brooklyn, a woman didn’t carry a “purse” or a “handbag,” she carried a “pocketbook,” pronounced “pock-a-book.”
The contents of my pocketbook(s):
- iPad, 1st generation - my favorite accessory
- purple Totes umbrella
- Rayban Wayfarers, in their case complete with cleaning cloth and original booklet - why?
- keys - my apartment keys, keys to my childhood home where my parents still live, 6 savings passes, an Eiffel Tower keychain from a dear friend’s trip to Paris, all on a Marc Jacobs key ring
- unbranded purple leopard print wallet
- 2 hair ties - in case one breaks
- half full pack of pocket tissues
- vintage Barbie wallet to hold coupons, my work ID and other savings cards
- 3 ballpoint pens, because being without a pen when you need one is seriously tragic
- Bath & Body Works Warm Vanilla Sugar pocket anti-bacterial hand gel
- 2 Victoria’s Secret lip glosses
- Sephora brand lipstick in Rouge
- Maybelline superstay lip color in Pearl
- Sephora brand travel hair brush and mirror
- 12 cents in loose change
- BlackBerry for work email
- Droid X
